I took the Expedition because I thought it would be fun to drive a big car for a night. After all I was picking up my Mustang the next day, so it’s not like it mattered much.
This morning a I received a text: “We need to get a part for the Mustang, it’ll be here tomorrow. Is that alright?”
Not a big deal, you might say, but I had already topped off the tank on the Expedition to return it. I drove 40 miles yesterday, and I filled up with....FOUR GALLONS?!
This isn’t fun anymore...
I thought about writing a full review, but I don’t think you all would care. Here’s a short one: This gigantic car is $51,000(!!!!!!) yet it’s cheaper inside than the Cozy Coupe I had as a kid. Much like the Cozy Coupe the brakes kinda suck.
I probably should have taken the Fusion

So this one doesn’t have the heated tailgate option?

No, but it does have the 2003 retro radio option

I would have had zero interest in driving that car under any circumstances. As a passenger, I would have snickered the entire time.

Has radio really changed in 14 years.?

Fifty. One. Thousand. Dollars.

Pretty cheap compared to a Tahoe. Those things can easily top 70 grand.

Remember this generation has been around for 10 years. Hopefully the 2018 model does more to justify its price.

Only slightly better than the beat to hell Rent-A-Car at home depot. Same layout though.

Idk how Ford gets away with selling this crap.

Did it have a fuel leak, or just a lead foot? Because it’s rated at 15/21 and Fuelly says they average mid teens with the 3.5.

Yes.
Aux in. USB. Bluetooth. Sirius XM. Now we got Apple Radio and Andriod Auto.

I love expeditions they have never let me down and saved my ass as a kid when a patch of black ice sent my family spinning across 3 lanes of highway traffic. As a daily it doesn’t get great milage but that isn’t the function of it. If you want a work horse that’s comfortable, can handle itself on twisty roads and road trip across the country and back without missing a beat then I recommend it whole heartedly. I would take one of those over any of it’s competitors. The explorer on the other hand all of those have been complete POS

If you do it’s about $9.10/lb. not cheap

I’ll definitely agree that it’s comfy. And the 3.5EB can roll hard. Like it’s a vehicle that can eat up highway miles with aplomb.

All the cheap plastic of a modern Toyota with none of the longevity!

The 3.5 rolls hard indeed.

All city, and I don’t actually know when the trip computer was reset

I like the motor. I don’t know about handling twisty roads...it’s big, floaty, and has no feel. It’s not supposed to but don’t pretend that’s a strength

I am not pretending its an autocross monster but I can make that truck dance.

Wait, why would you top off a loaner car? The ideal situation is to roll into the dealership on fumes.

Ford is cheap and told me if I didn’t they would charge me for gas
![]() 04/28/2017 at 20:04 |

Sounds like they gave it to you 3 gallons shy of full. It’s probably a 26 or 33 gallon tank, so the gauge wouldn’t have moved much. Scammy jerks.

God.... to think they can get away with charging $51M for an SUV that is 10 yrs old.
